I had a Cuisinart dual control 4 slicerand the setting knobs had a lot of play in them. I had to constantly play with them every time I had to make toast. I eventually gave it to my away to daughter. Thinking I just had a defective one. I bought another one because I have had other Cuisinart small appliances that were great. Nope same thing. I hate returning things so I suffered along for two years. Well, today I toasted an english muffin and the edges were toasted but the middle was not, even tho I used the bagle button. That was it! I suffered enough! I searched and searched because I knew that what I wanted. A toaster that would toast different setting as my spouse likes his toast darker than I do.I finally found one that had every feature I wanted. This toaster is absolutely the greatest!! I tried all the settings such as pastry, english muffin, wheat bread, white bread, and each one was perfect. The best was the bagel setting. The toaster has an indication on it to show you which way the bagel should be facing. Oh my goodness! the cut side was perfectly toasted while the other side side was so chewy and good. I toasted one half of the bagel and it was so good I toasted the other half. Best toaster ever!
